I leave and work in my countryside home near Bologna, in Italy.
I’m graduate in Modern History and before becoming a professional illustrator I used to work as an archeologist, both in University and Archeological Sites.
I started illustrating for Advertising, where I used to do projectual work as well as graphic design.
My aim has always been working for publishing and there I moved at the very first occasion.
I’ve been illustrating books for children for more than fifteen years and my work is published in Italy, the united Kingdom, the United States and New Zeland.
I’ve published with Ladybird, Franklin Watts, BBC, Macmillan, Usborne, Harcourt,Oxford University Press e many others.
My favorite media are acrilic and watercolour, but every new project gives me the opportunity for further sperimentation.
When I’m not illustrating, I enjoy doing refurbishung projects for children rooms on famous Italian cruise ships. Already five big cruise ships have my paintings travelling around the world!
I have two children and a lot of animals, including a dog, tree cats, four ducks and two rabbits, maybe that’s why I like so much painting funny animals of all sort.
I think I’m a good cook, cooking and painting is not that different, I use the same sort of technique: mixing flavoures instead of colours and enjoy the result.
As my kids are growing fast, I sometimes do workshops in primary schools; children of this age are so fresh and full of enthusiasm, that they give me a lot of new ideas.
And I love swimming, and travelling, and walking on the mountains, and literature, and cinema, and music, and chocolate ……………….……
I think I’ve got everything I was dreaming about when I was a little one…..I’m nearly worried about it!!!!
