Artists : Julia Nielsen

I‘m Julia, a 30 year old illustrator living in Stockholm, Sweden. I did a BA in Visual Communication Design in London and ended up working for one of the UK‘s top print design agencies, SEA Design, before setting up as a freelance designer and illustrator in 2003. After a while living in Germany I moved back to Sweden in 2006.

Since my roots are in graphic design my main passion is typographic illustration, but I love any challenge and have worked in all fields of illustration since joining up with Bright. I tend to see myself as a designer rather than an artist and work best to a tight brief.

Apart from working on Bright projects I have my own range of products, ranging from greeting cards to interior design to jewellery, all of it featuring my illustrations. The products are sold in design shops around Sweden. Since 2008 I share a small studio and shop with two product designers in the heart of Södermalm in Stockholm.
