Artists : Manuel Sumberac

Manuel Šumberac, was born on 05th August 1988 in Pula, Croatia. In 2007 he graduated from The School of Applied Arts and Design in Pula, Department of Graphic Design. Now he attends the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Animation and New Media in Zagreb. He has received and been recognized for several best student awards throughout his studies.

From 2008 till 2009 he worked as lead animator on the animated film GULIVER by Zdenko Basic, who won Grand Prix at the festival
"19. Dani hrvatskog filma" and award for best short film at "Libertas" film festival in Dubrovnik.

Since then he realized 3 short animated films ESCARGOT (2010), VESLA / THE OARS in collaboration with Zdenka Basic, 201, and
U SJENI / IN THE SHADOW (2011).

Working with Zdenko Basic, Manuel has directed and animated 3 music video for Croatian musician Gibonni; "ŽEĐAM, "TOLERANCA" and "VESLA".

For the film 'Escargot' he received 2nd prize at the "42. Reviji hrvatskog filmskog video stvaralaštva" and 1st prize at festival
"Balkans Beyond Borders" in Greece. For animated music video "ŽEĐAM" wins Porin music award for best music video in 2010, and for the design of
cd-cover "SVIJET GLAMURA" of a Croatian band Hladno Pivo he received Porin music award as the best designed cd-cover in 2011.

Combined with animation he works as illustrator in collaboration with Zdenko Basic and has illustrated "PINOCCHIO" and "SNOW WHITE" for Carlton Publishers; "STEAMPUNK POE" and "STEAMPUNK FRANKENSTEIN" for Running Press, as well as numerous book covers published in different countries in several languages.
