Artists : Shelagh McNicholas

Liverpool born and the youngest of four daughters. I have always been passionate about drawing, taking a sketch book with me on my travels. I especially loved the trips to the hairdressers with mum when I was a little girl. I would sketch all the ladies having their hair brushed, combed and sprayed into all kinds of wonderful shapes!
When my daughter Molly was born she became my inspiration to draw children of all ages doing what they do best, being themselves in their own little worlds. Ballet classes and dancing became a favourite and I would spend hour after hour sketching frantically as budding ballerinas fluttered across the room.
If I hadn’t become an illustrator I think I would have been a prima ballerina but I don’t think my family would agree!
