Artists : Nicola O'Byrne

I was born in Swaziland and have lived in Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Kenya and Edinburgh. My father is an orchid specialist and has written several books of his own, though he promises each one is “the last one.” I even have an orchid named after me! My mother teaches Physics at an international school. I studied a BA (Hons) Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art where I was awarded a First Class Degree, and have now moved to London to pursue a career in freelance illustration and to study a Masters in Printmaking. I love drawing and base as much as possible of my illustrations on real locations and people I’ve observed. When I’m not drawing I enjoy swimming, baking, and watching movies.
