Artists : Daniel J. Brown

Daniel is a professional UK based illustrator. Since graduating with a BA(hons) in illustration from Swansea Metropolitan University he has been commissioned by a variety of clients including Hinkler Publishing, Flying Frog Publishing and MPC ( The Moving Picture Company). His earliest artwork came in the form of sketches of illustrations from his collection of wildlife books, and in particular classic children’s literature! Through being heavily influenced by artists such as Arthur Rackham, Robert Ingpen, Maurice Sendak and Anthony Brown, Daniel has gone on to develop traditional illustration techniques that are employed to create pictures that are full of life. As a consequence of his passion and enthusiasm for natural history his work, even when stylized, presents a degree of realism, drawing out distinctive qualities of expressive behaviour of both wildlife and people. Professionally, Daniel’s main ambition is to gain a global reputation as a leading children’s book illustrator, and envisages his work as ideally helping to promote awareness of wildlife conservation issues. One day he would also love to win the Kate Greenaway Award.
