Artists : Belinda Strong

Hi, I'm Belinda (but I’m mostly known as Bee) – pleased to meet you!
Here’s a little bit about me…
I was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1980 to two creatively gifted parents who passed on to me their love for the arts. From a very young age, I would spend hours creating all sorts of scribbly crayon masterpieces in my scrapbook. Through childhood and teens I tried my hand at many artistic pursuits including music, dance and silver smithing, but found the greatest joy in creating images on paper. In my late teens, I developed a slight obsession with all things mid-century. Love affairs with artists such as The Beatles, The Kinks, Mary Quant, Charlie Harper, Eyvind Earle, Grant Featherston and Verner Panton (to name but a few) continue to influence my style.
I have worked at ice-cream shops, cafes, jewellers and flower farms, and as an in-house illustrator/designer for a greeting card company.
I have travelled a bit but would love to see more of the world before I grow too old!
I live in the beautiful Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne, in a cosy little house on a big block of land with my fabulous husband and our greyhound, Twiggy.
I love getting my hands dirty in the garden and am very passionate about growing and cooking with produce from our own backyard.
Occasionally I enjoy getting creative with a dry martini in hand... two olives!
