Giuliano Ferri
Giuliano Ferri was born in Pesaro in 1965 and is a graduate of the Urbino Institute of Art where he specialised in animation.
He has also taken courses in illustration given by Stepan Zavrel.
For some years now he has illustrated children’s books.
In 1993 with the book “Diario di Bordo” he won the “Città di Bitritto”
Prize at the sixth Italian National Competition for Children’s Literature.
His books have been published in Italy, the United States, China, Japan, England and France and they have been translated into several languages.
For ten years his work has been chosen and exhibited at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
In 1995 he also partecipated in the BIB (Biennale in Bratislava).
His work has been also exhibited at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, at the Unicef building in New York, at the Itabashi Art Museum in Tokio, at TIBE Bookfair and at the Fine Art Museum in Taiwan, at the “Premi Internacional Catalònia d’Illustraciò” in Barcelona, at the Daimaru Museum in Osaka for the project: “Italy in Japan 2001”, at the Art Institute of Chicago and in several cities of Italy.
Other commitments include workshops in schools and libraries covering the conception and execution of an illustration and drama groups for children in which stories from his books are dramatised and enacted.
In the broader social field Giuliano Ferri is also involved in the local community working as an animator with young people with disabilities, using drama and comic theatre as therapy.
Now Giuliano lives in Pesaro with his wife Monica and their daughter Alice.
